Michel Boucquillon
Michel Boucquillon was born in Belgium in 1962. In 1988 he won the competition held by Camera del Parlamento Europeo in Bruxelles, thus starting his career as an architect and designer.
In 2000, he opened a new workshop dedicated to Industrial Design and experimental Architecture in Lucca, Tuscany: "CASA BOUCQUILLON", an extremely experimental place of exploration, meditation, life and work. Michel actually works for the world most famous International Design companies, like Alessi, Artemide, Antonio Lupi, Ferragamo and Serralunga.
His work is present in several Museums and won many of the main international Awards; the most recents are Menzione d’Onore Compasso d’Oro 2011, Good Design Award 2008 and Design Plus 2006.

Donia Maaoui
Donia Maaoui was born in Belgium in 1967, by Belgian mother and Tunisian father. She works as a model and then as an architect both in Tunisi and in Bruxelles.
Currently she lives in Lucca, where her main occupation is cast bronze sculpture and painting. As a designer, she works alongside with her husband Michel Boucquillon in collaborations with renowned companies like Alessi and Martinelliluce.

The mission of Alessi
Founded in 1921 as "Workshop for the processing of brass and nickel silver plate with foundry", Alessi has always been recognized for the high quality of its products. In almost a century of history it has gradually evolved becoming a leading exponent of the "Italian Design Factories", capable of applying the skills and excellence achieved in design management to very different types of products.
Open to international change and development, the company is at the same time deeply rooted in tradition and in the cultural background of its territory: Alessi continues to be synonymous with handicrafts made with the help of machines.

Since 1921, when the company was founded, the most significant part of the Alessi objects is made by cold working of metals and, even today, it is produced in Italy by skilled workers of the Crusinallo factory in Omegna. Even when it takes place outside the Crusinallo factory, the guideLines that Alessi has established guarantee the same quality standards as the original production of the company, in a continuous mediation between the technological complexity of the industry and the attention to details of craftsmanship.
